There are great options for AUR students who are keen on yoga or pilates. The university offers classes in both disciplines, and if the timetable doesn't fit with your schedule another possibility is a fitness studio in the heart of Trastevere.

Yoga classes at AUR take place on Tuesday evenings in room B304 on the campus from 7-8pm. Pilates is in the same place and time each Wednesday evening. Both have a maximum of 12 students per session.

They are taught in English by highly qualified instructor Chiara Panella and are open to people with all levels of fitness. Chiara organises the style and methodology of the classes based on student needs.

The participation fee is 50 Euros, which covers the whole semester, along with a 10 per cent discount for anyone doing both courses. Mats are available for those who require them.

These sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment for students who want to be active within the university community and connect with others.

An alternative to these yoga and pilates classes within AUR is the RYoga fitness studio in Trastevere. It has a vibrant atmosphere and offers a wide range of fitness classes, from beginners to highly experienced.

Among the options available are Vinyasa, Power Flow, AcroYoga and Aerial Flow. This is a local fitness studio, so all classes are taught in Italian, but the staff are always prepared to assist if needed.  RYoga provides more than 200 classes each week, including a “Sunday Surprise”.

A full list of classes can be found below:

  • Yoga

  • HIIT

  • Barre

  • Mat Pilates

A medical certificate is needed to attend classes. Memberships start at 75 Euros depending on the membership price. They offer single use classes, bundles of class packs, or an unlimited membership per month.
