AUR's New Found Talent Dominates Spring Season Opener

AUR Wolves 9, Rome Tre Greyhounds 6

Greta Bair scored a magnificent six goals to inspire the American University of Rome Wolves to a 9-6 victory against the Roma Tre Greyhounds in a captivating first match of the Spring Season on February 11. 

Within ten seconds of the whistle, marking the start of the 8 p.m. kickoff at Trastevere Stadium, Bair scored an electric goal, showcasing her talent right off the bat.

The wolves continued to dominate the field from all sides, on offense and defense, scoring five goals in the first half and four in the second. AUR’s goalkeeper, Morgan Rademacher, held the net firm, letting only one slip past in the first 20 minutes. On the offensive side, Bair was a force to be reckoned with, putting the first numbers on the scoreboard and completing two hat tricks. 

Once Leatile Kelly stepped onto the field, her and Bair’s chemistry was undeniable. Kelly played off of Bair’s speed at the front, using her footwork to move smoothly around her opponent, managing two goals of her own. 

On the defensive end, Eliana Goldson held the back half of the field down, not letting the Roma Tre offense gain any momentum. The defensive unit Goldson, Mary Perkins, and Bair was a thing of beauty as they worked interchangeably around one another, protecting their respective goal.

With this marking the first game of the season as the team begins with a new roster, this was a small peak into the team’s cohesion. Looking towards the future of the season and the team’s next few matches, fans can anticipate that the team is bound to be successful based on the show they put on last night.
